Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

Woman receiving a dental checkup

The American Dental Association states you should get checkups and cleanings at least every six months. At these visits, we’ll closely assess your mouth for signs of oral problems. (Our team may take dental X-rays during this exam.) We’ll then develop a treatment plan if you show noteworthy symptoms. After the initial checkup, our team will cleanse your smile of its plaque and tartar. This process will leave your whole mouth feeling clean and fresh!

Children’s Dentistry

Our office welcomes dental patients of all ages, from children to adults. We provide comprehensive dental care including teeth cleaning, cavity treatment, and urgent dental emergencies for our younger patients. Additionally, we emphasize education on proper oral hygiene practices, ensuring that children learn the importance of maintaining healthy teeth and gums from an early age. We also provide orthodontic care as they enter their teen years. Best of all, our team is always gentle and caring to your child. You can rest assured that your little one will be treated like a beloved niece or nephew whenever they are here.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease affects half of all Americans aged 30 and older. Given that fact, you may suffer from it if you experience symptoms like red, swollen, or sensitive gums. We can treat it using scaling and root planing – processes that deeply clean your gums. The initial scaling removes the plaque and tartar from above and below your gumline. Then, root planing smooths your tooth roots so your gums reattach to your teeth and provide stable support for your smile.

Fluoride Treatment

We may suggest a fluoride treatment along with your dental checkup and cleaning. This procedure applies large amounts of the named mineral to your teeth. (The fluoride often takes the form of a gel or foam.) This treatment reinforces your enamel and reduces the risk of decay and cavities.

For your children, we offer silver diamine fluoride (SDF). This strengthens teeth and prevents cavities from growing and spreading.

Dental Sealants

Our office recommends dental sealants to those prone to tooth decay. These coatings match the color of your smile and protect your enamel from bad bacteria. In terms of treatment, we apply them to the back teeth and cure them so they harden. The sealants will make you or your child far less likely to develop cavities and similar issues.

Athletic Mouthguards / Sportsguards

Perhaps you or a family member like to play sports (basketball, baseball, football, etc.). If so, you should be careful – many of these pastimes can cause dental injuries. One wrong move and a tooth could be chipped, cracked, or even knocked out. That said, our athletic mouthguards can solve this minor dilemma. Wearing one over your upper teeth will protect your smile from collisions and blows. That way, you won’t risk your grin while you play.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Have you heard of bruxism? If not, maybe you know it by its other name – teeth grinding. This unconscious habit slowly wears down one’s enamel and harms oral health. Adding insult to injury, it also tends to occur while the patient is asleep. Thankfully, our office can treat the issue with a custom nightguard. Wearing one at night sets a barrier between your upper and lower teeth. The result is that your smile is fully protected from further damage.

TMJ Treatment

Problems with the jaw’s joints – known as the temporomandibular joints – are more common than most think. Current estimates say that 11-12 million U.S. adults suffer from TMJ disorders (TMDs) each year. Dr. Sanchez can address these conditions with personalized TMJ treatment. This takes the form of occlusal splints or equilibrations. The former uses an oral device to reduce tension in your face, while the latter alters your bite to ease pressure on the TMJs.
